Launching of the book, “African Politics and Development”

MCL organized the Public Presentation/Launching of the book, “African Politics and Development written by Famous S. Eseduwo, PhD, on 2nd July, 2025, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rotunda Hall, Abuja. The event was attended by high-profiled dignitaries and the Diplomatic Corps. The book was reviewed by Prof. Peter Abraham, a Professor of Political Science, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State. The event was chaired by Hon. (Dr) Fred Agbedi (Member representing, Bayelsa-West Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Representatives), while His Excellency (Senator) Henry Seriake Dickson (Former Governor of Bayelsa State, and the Distinguished Senator representing Bayelsa-West Senatorial District) was the Special Guest of Honour, and His Royal Majesty, Justice F.F. Tabai, CON, JSC (rtd), King (Ebenanaowei) of Tuomo Clan, Delta State, was the Royal Father of the Day. The Book Presenter was His Excellency Amb. (Dr) Godknows Boladei Igali, Federal Permanent Secretary (rtd). The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation was also represented by the Permanent Secretary (Common Services Office), Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation amongst other dignitaries too numerous to mention. The Author, Dr. Famous Eseduwo, while addressing the quality audience remarked that Africans must own up the age-long underdevelopment of Africa and stop blaming the former colonial masters. He added that Africans have not identified the real Africa’s development problems and that the burden to identify and expose Africa’s real development problems prompted him to write the book. He pointed at vote selling and vote buying in Africa as a major development problem as it affects the leadership recruitment process in African countries. The Author calls for the inauguration of an African Grassroots Political Awareness Group (APGAM) to take the message direct to the people to stop vote selling during elections.
