Leadership is a conscious or unconscious and sustained or non-sustained human activity. It exists at both micro and macro levels. It is as old as creation itself. Theories and practice of leadership are multidisciplinary in nature. However, the commonality of its study
\nremains the human element as characterized in extant leadership theories. The boundary of which leadership theory should be considered the best for transformational leadership remains a contentious issue in management science and political science discourses. This argument has led to several definitions of leadership by different scholars. Nonetheless, no one definition has been commonly accepted. Interestingly, there are a number of general explanations on the term leadership and by looking at some of them, we will be able to contextualize and locate the concept and challenges of transformational leadership. These
\ninclude:<\/p>\n
(i) leadership as influencing people to follow in the achievement of a common goal;
